The problem

Your onboarding checklist asks: is the supplier active, VAT-registered, financially sound, who signs for it, is it in insolvency or litigation? In Romania the answers are spread across ANAF, the trade register (ONRC) and the court portal, in Romanian. HowToRomania brings this public data together in one API, returns it as English JSON, and charges per call.

Limits you should know

  • No beneficial-owner (UBO) data. Representatives are names and roles from the monthly ONRC open-data snapshot; verify current data at ONRC for legal use.
  • Court cases are matched on the company's ANAF name; companies with very similar names may appear.
  • Cases closed more than 3 years ago are not returned (GDPR data minimisation), and natural persons are masked.
  • The risk score is informational, from published rules. It is not a credit rating or advice.

Do we need a contract?

No. Prepaid credits from €5, VAT included. A DPA is available at /dpa.

Is the output in English?

Field names and structure are English. Some values (court categories, ANAF status text, company names) are kept as published in Romanian.

Is this an official ANAF or government service?

No. HowToRomania is an independent service that reads public sources (ANAF, ONRC open data, portal.just.ro) and returns them as English JSON. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any public authority. Information only; not legal or credit advice.
