{ "mcpServers": { "howtoromania": { "url": "https://api.howtoromania.io/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer htr_demo" } } } }

The MCP tools are free, but the MCP server needs a key; the demo key htr_demo works. Ask your agent: “What was the BNR EUR/RON rate on 31 December 2025?”

FAQ

Which date does a rate carry?

The date field is BNR's publication date. If you ask for a day without a fixing (weekend, holiday), the API returns the latest earlier banking day and adds requestedDate.

Which currencies?

Every currency in BNR's file for that day. Some are quoted per 100 units (e.g. HUF, JPY); the multiplier field shows this and ronPerUnit gives the value for one unit.

Which rate should I use for accounting?

That depends on tax rules and your contract. This page and the API are informational; check the applicable rule with your accountant.

Is this a BNR service?

No. HowToRomania is an independent service, not affiliated with any public authority. We take the data BNR publishes and return it unchanged.
